Ann and Bill had a fireworks stand for many years on their property. The cellar would be stacked high with cartons of fireworks. It was always fun to go up there and hang around the fireworks stand. How thrilled we were when they thought we were old enough to help sell the fireworks! On the Fourth of July, Bill would set off a bunch of fireworks for us kids. Ann was an excellent cook. We had coffee and her famous pies every night when we visited. We always had Thanksgiving at their house. The only family that wasn't there were the Hancocks. Leonard and Mildred and their kids would go to Manchester to her parents for dinner but would arrive at Ann and Bill's house after supper. The party would go on until the wee hours of the night. We played football every Thanksgiving, rain, sun or snow after we ate which usually started at 2 PM. Esther and Tom would always play with us kids. Sometimes, Edwin and Bill would join in.
