Buddy and his brother Frankie (Frank E. Hancock) were co-owners and operators of Frank's Restaurant on Route 75, Windsor Locks from 1951-1966. The restaurant was just outside the Bradley Air Force base, now Bradley International Airport. It was the only restaurant around, as the area was not built up as it is today so it had a brisk business.

Buddy later was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection as a food inspector of restaurants 1966-1988.
