Linda Hull, the wife of David Brooks, traced her ancestry to Richard Hull, a native of Derbyshire England, who came to America with the first settlers, and was made a freeman in Dorchester Mass in 1634.

About 1637 he removed to New Haven, and took the oath of fidelity. He was one of the founders of the New Haven Colony and lived in this county on what is now called Chapel Street. He was a god fearing man and a good citizen, but not a puritan and on that account came to New Haven, where he died in September 1662. He had two sons - John and Joseph and one daughter.

82 Godparents at his Baptism were Per August and Anna Sophia Johnson. Anna Sophia is Grandpa's (Frank Johnson) sister. They lived across the street from Leonard's parents, my grandparents, in the house I grew up in on Nordland Avenue. There is an interesting story of coincidence: The Rose family lived in the next to the last house on Nordland Avenue on the same side as Per August and Anna Sophia. Christopher Rose started going with Gertrude, the adopted child of Frank Johnson and his wife, Beatrice (She was Beatrice's child by her first marriage) who moved or built the house next door to his parents (which later became the Polish family's house). This Frank Johnson was the son of Anna Sophia (aka: Faster which means aunt in Swedish) and Pehr August Johnson. (Anna Sophia was Grandpa's sister, therefore this Frank Johnson was his nephew). Anyway, Bill Hick bought Pehr and Anna Sophia's house - I guess after they died - haven't researched the land records. Later he sold it to the Reil family. And, after Len Johnson, Leonard Carl (I217)

94 History of Wallingford, CT
Dr. John Hulls, as he wrote his name, was at Stratford in 1661, when he was admitted a planter. It is not quite certain whether he came from England, or was a son of Richard Hull of New Haven. Dr. John was at Derby, CT in 1668, and at Wallingford in 1687. He died Dec. 6, 1711, at the latter place. He was probably somewhat advanced in life when he came to Wallingford. He married Mary Jones October 19, 1672, probably his second wife, she dying he married Rebecca Turner.
